DROP 01 / EDITORIAL COLUMN

BRICK BY BRICK - LEGO

PROBLEM

LEGO's need for a platform for communication for its fellow builders to donate, post questions and share their stories and build a campaign featuring it.

APPROACH

A playful column structure with collectible modules, bold category labels, and a system that can scale across features.

DELIVERABLE

Product and a campaign surrounding it.

OUTCOME

A community-facing concept that makes building knowledge feel organized and collectible.

At Brick by Brick, we believe every LEGO brick tells a story of buildings, yes, but of imagination and memory too.  More than a collection of LEGO bricks, Brick by Brick is a movement that unites people, where every donated brick is a part of someone's journey. Perhaps it's a childhood memory, something given to them by a loved one, or a remnant of past project, every brick holds meaning.

The logo is meant to capture the essence of creativity, transformation, and storytelling through bold shapes, colors, and textures.

The yellow textured triangle represents art, imagination, and the hands-on, personal nature of building. The red circle nods to LEGO studs but also symbolizes play and reinterpretation reminding us that a single piece can be part of many stories. The navy rectangle suggests structure yet leaves room for ambiguity, embodying the idea that things are not always what they seem. The green outline subtly references the edge of a LEGO brick, reinforcing modularity and connection.

Together, these elements create a visual language that blends familiarity with surprise, just like LEGO itself. The design invites participation, encouraging people to see beyond the bricks and into the shared memories, creativity, and journeys they represent.
